About Us
The Gratitude Retreat is a nonprofit organization, offering housing, food, clothing and guidance to alcoholic men. From its beginnings in the basement of an El Segundo hotel in 1981, the Retreat has grown to become a 24-bed sober living center providing shelter to more than 50 newly sober alcoholics and drug addicts annually.
The need for housing and structured programs offered by the Gratitude is overwhelming. We receive no state or federal funding. We house two men to a room, provide meals daily, regularly monitor the progress of our residents and provide an exit strategy plan. These are unique features of the Gratitude. Our mission is to furnish our men with the tools necessary to be proud productive participants in today's society.
MISSION STATEMENT
"To provide a secure and structured sober living environment, focusing on responsibility, enterprise, and character as the foundation for rebuilding the lives of newly sober alcoholic men."
